Gold digger or good daddy?
"I will always love the mothers of my children, and I will always be there for both of them. I believe that any good energy I put out there brings more good energy into my own life. The relationships with my kids and family will last my whole life and are the most important to me." These words came straight from the mouth of the father of the year – KFed. But I remember the days when Federline was the bad father. There was a point in Britney’s life when she left Kevin for good reasons and people praised her for taking her kids away from that atmosphere. But Kevin slapped on a suit and Bam -- parent of the century. Boy, have things changed. It makes us wonder if this Kfed transformation directly correlates with the fact that he receives a lot more money if he is the primary care taker. Kevin has become the mythological “Hero” by taking custody of his kids. It makes me wonder if some really good publicists have pulled the wool over eyes and made us forget about his past when he spent days partying and smoking pot. While I hope he truly has changed I can’t help but wonder what he’s doing around his kids when people aren’t there watching and his lawyer isn’t around to release these “mature” statements.

Its interesting to see the ways in which KFed's publicists and marketers chose to portray him in spite of all the terrible reports about him when he and Brit split up. Obviously those working for KFed understand the importance of his image to the public--but considering this point, his recent commercial which shows him working at a fast food restaurant dreaming of being a star backwardly depicts KFed as a wannabe and a scrub. It was a strange way to represent KFeds image. However, people were talking about him because of that commercial and the irony involved- i suppose any attention is better than no attention at all in the world of celebrity.
We can either look at it as Kfed is the Hero, or we can look at the right way and say that Britney is the perfect example of the "Scape Goat Myth" as introduced by Lule's book. While there is no doubt that Brit did lose it a little bit and maybe was not in the best shape to have kids under her wing, I seriously can't believe the court thought that Kfed was. Either he hired amazing publicists as you say, or Brit just had really bad ones because there is no way that guy deserves kids. The question remains; if both parents are not able to handle the kids, what happens? Child services? Family? The highest paying fan?
We probably all know about Brit's rapid downfall in the recent months and her losing her children in the custody battle. But we all seem to forget the crazy lifestyle of K--fed. This seems to be the work of a strong publicist and agent team. The "celebrity machine" has been successful in erasing from our memories the crazy party boy image of less than a year ago. Good luck to those two boys as they grow up with Brit and KFed as parents.
